Works Well
This rug fits perfectly under the LitterMaid automatic litterboxes, either the regular or the Mega. We have one rug under each box in our house and it contains any tracked litter wonderfully – no more litter on the floor. As an added plus, our cat also scratches on this mat constantly.

Good Litter Mat
We use this with our regular old litter box. It does a great job of keeping the litter contained and our floors protected. The size is generous, but not too big. It’s much better than those tiny plastic mats that you see in the pet stores. I’m buying another for our other box.

Best among no perfect mats
We have had one of these mats for years and after trying several others, it’s the only one with which we are 95% satisfied. Because it is ridged “carpeting” it keeps the litter as close to the box as we’ve been able to accomplish. The current one finally got smelly after about 5-6 years and I have been on an odyssey trying to find another one, as none of the local (SF Bay Area) pet stores seem to carry it anymore. The mats with the synthetic big looped fibers which are not carpet-like, as this one is, catch on our cats’ claws and they hate that and end up pulling the mat up over and over as a result – “thumpa, thumpa, thumpa” – and they invariably scratch on the mat if litter is spilled. These loopy mats also let the litter spill beyond the mat and you also can’t sweep the litter off those mats. The ridged foam ones get torn up within days; little foam tubes all over the house. The other smaller ones we’ve tried do not keep the litter close to the box. This one can be washed outside with a hose and is porous so it dries in the sun fairly quickly. Not instantaneously though, so you have to plan for sun when you wash it. As far as we are concerned, its only drawback is that it can’t be washed and dried by machine. Thank the kitty gods that they still make it!

I love it!
Well, what can you say about a lid? I think it does its job fine! I love these see-through lids, watching the steam fogging the pan, and then forming drops of water on the surface, which accumulate, accumulate, and suddenly flow back to the pan! Ah! The poetry of cooking! No, seriously, it’s a good lid. It also has a small hole that allows excess steam to get out.

NOT For the Deep Skillet
I purchased the Farberware 12-Inch Glass Lid thinking it would fit my Farberware 12-Inch Deep Skillet. Silly me. It didn’t fit. Not even close. It seems that while the curved side of the skillet arcs down to the base directly from the edge, the lid has a lip that is more or less perpendicular to its edge – an incompatible state of affairs. After spending a little time audibly pondering the mental capacity and pedigree of whoever at Farberware was responsible for this SNAFU, I “fine-tuned” the lip of the lid with a pair of blunt nose pliers and thumb/forefinger pressure to achieve an acceptable fit. My wife is satisfied so all is well.

Realizing that a lot of Amazon shoppers probably would not take this course of action, I am submitting this review to advise fellow deep skillet lid seekers to look elsewhere for a lid that fits “out of the box” and to remind everyone that sometimes the 12 inches you’re looking for is not the 12 inches you get. So be careful out there.

keep in milk crate
The intake tends to clog with this pump. When you have it in your pond, keep it in a milk crate with wire mesh around it to allow water to pass but not weeds, bugs, and other small objects that can severly hinder its operation

Pumps Continue to Fail
Since about 1998 I’ve had a 325 GPH Beckett pump and about every 2-3 years like clockwork the pump fails and trips the GFI receptacle. I use the pump in a small 1/2 wine barrel pond with an old style well pump. The head height is less than 24″ and the pump only runs 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening. I’m pretty careful to keep the screen clean so as not to overheat the pump. My fourth pump failed yesterday. It has only been in operation since June of 2008. The good news is, it was a warranty replacement for the previous pump that failed in the exact same way. Teh bad news is they will not replace a warranty replacement. The pumps are “potted” so they are not servicable and must be replaced when they fail (throw aways). I would advise against purchasing Beckett pumps as the seem to keep failing the same way and at about the same time frame.

Beckett Co. great!
My smaller pond pump failed after 5 years, so I purchased the next larger size Beckett pump (325 gals/medium ponds). Delivery through Amazon was very prompt, but the pump was defective. I contacted the Beckett company and they promptly shipped a new pump. Their customer service was great to work with! The new pump is in the garden pond and working quite well.

Papillons Love this
I have 2 Papillons and it takes a year for the two of them to go through an 8 lb bag. I have tried to mix with other brands(including Halo)I can buy locally but they spit it on the floor and eat only the Life’s Abundance. I gave up! We now order it on line and spoil these rascals with Life’s Abundance. I wish you sold it in smaller size bags.

Proctor-Silex Coffeemaker
The only complaint I have is when you pour the water in or pour a cup of coffee. The pour spout is too small and you have to pour slowly!! Sometimes that doesn’t even work and I end up with paper towels moping up the counter top. I have bought this brand for years because it last longer than any coffee maker I have ever bought!!! If they fixed this problem it would be a perfect coffee maker!!!!!!!!

Disappointing, but what do you expect for the price?
We’ve used Proctor-Silex products in our home before and expected a product of slightly better quality.

This coffeemaker functions, but only on a very basic level.

The entire unit is light and flimsy-feeling (it moves every time you press one of the buttons on the front), and it’s nearly impossible to load it with water without spilling the contents of the carafe.

The LCD clock is ridiculously small and virtually unviewable. The LED lights in the switches are so tiny and dim that you can’t readily discern whether or not the appliance is even on.

If the carafe seems smallish, that’s because it is. The “12-cup” claim is dubious, because Proctor-Silex is apparently now using a smaller cup size in making their measurements. Our former machine would make enough coffee to fill our 11-ounce coffee mugs a total of six times. This coffeemaker will fill four 11-ounce mugs, with perhaps a couple of quarter-cup servings left over.

I can’t really fault Proctor-Silex for making this appliance — they need machines at all price points, and it DOES make coffee. But there are NO “bells and whistles,” and the entire things just has a “cheap” feel about it.

We’re already looking forward to replacing this model, and you can be assured that the next time we’ll bite the bullet and spend a few dollars more to get something a bit better.

Good value
A few days ago, I received 2 of these coffeemakers to replace the large and cumbersome coffeemakers that I had been using. I make both regular and decaf coffee daily, which I then put into thermos carafes. I like the fact that the coffee is very hot and the coffeemakers are light and easy to move around. I have not had them scoot on the countertop when pushing the buttons (as another reviewer reported). I have not had the coffee spill when pouring.
Another reviewer also complained about the dimness of the clock face — but I prefer it to be dim. It is very visible when I need it, but do not depend on it as a clock (I have other clocks). I find the glaring red numbers on other coffeemakers to be very annoying.
Another plus is that when I remove the coffee basket, there is no puddle of liquid under the filter (as my other maker was wont to do). I prefer paper filters, rather than the permanent filter and they work well in the basket.
The only drawback I have found is that the water reservoir is difficult to fill without spillage (but I circumvent that by using a 1 liter measure to fill, rather than trying to pour from the pot). Other than that I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Expensive, but still a good value
Our previous 3/4 hp In-Sink-Erator finally wore out after 20 years of service. We loved the cover-control on the old model, and I was shocked to find that it’s such a rare feature. This high-end unit had it, and I wouldn’t have been nearly as happy with wall-switch versions, which we’ve had in the past. The cover control means you never have to worry about you (or a guest) turning on the disposer when intending to turn on a light. No worries about using an electrical switch with wet hands. Kids are less likely to overload the unit by force-feeding, because the cover is in place when the unit is turned on.

I had never installed a sink disposer before, but I had installed our dishwasher and done similar tasks around the house. Instructions were clear, and I did the whole thing in a couple of hours replacing everything including the drain flange (included with the disposer).

This unit is whisper-quiet, and the 3/4 hp motor never breaks a sweat.

As I said in the title, this one’s pretty expensive, but our previous one lasted 20 years and this one seems even sturdier.

Expensive But Worth It
I’m impressed at the obvious build quality of the cover control model. It replaced an 18 year old Insinkerator cover control model that suddenly wouldn’t turn off and became a shock hazard. This Evolution model snapped right into the old mount (real time-saver) and took about 2 hours to complete including minor plumbing changes. This is my 5th disposal install over the years and was the simplest. It’s expensive, but cheaper at Amazon.com than some other online retailers I looked at.

Buyer Beware if Your Sink is Cast Iron
I’ve had insinkerators in my last two homes. Very convenient. When mine broke down, I went with the new model which has a magnetic on/off switch. Seemed very advanced. Also great price on Amazon. Warranteed for 7 years in home. HOWEVER, after it was installed by the plumber, you couldn’t get the thing to turn off. Called for service. They agreed to come but said if it isn’t the device, they would charge $250 for a service call (as much as I paid for the insinkerator). Called back the plumber. He called service. Apparently, because my white sink is cast iron, it needs a different part to fit in the drain. Service knew the part number without looking it up. The part, which is an inch or so longer than the one that comes with the insinkerator, cost $75! That’s one third the price of the whole shebang. Unfortunately I was too far down the road to turn back. Given the additional expense, the fancy magnetic switch and whisper quiet operation have lost some of their luster. At least they could warn you on the box or in the sales info that you could get banged for an additional $75 for a part that looks like it costs about a buck. Talk about money down the drain!

The Evolution Series disposers introduce new technologies, MultiGrind and SoundSeal, that address the two most common requests we’ve heard over the years; improved grinding ability and reduced noise. MultiGrind is a two stage technology that enables you to quickly grind food waste significantly better than you could in any previous disposer. It efficiently grinds problem foods such as celery and potato peels. SoundSeal Plus is a combination of advanced sound insulation and anti-vibration components that reduce noise levels by 60% compared to standard disposers. The Evolution Cover Control model offers the extra assurance of covered operation. This unit contains a special Magnetic CoverStart Activation feature. The disposer will not activate until the cover goes on. It has a 40 ounce stainless steel grind chamber and grind components and contains a 3/4 HP Dura-Drive induction motor. The Dura Drive motor is a powerful, heavy duty motor designed and manufactured by InSinkErator to the exacting specifications found in major appliances such as washers and dryers. These motors help ensure high performance and long life. The Evolution Cover Control also comes with a InSinkErator Quick Lock Sink Mount. Available only from InSinkErator the “Twist On and Twist Off” mount makes installation easy and fast. Just twist off the old one and twist on the new one.
