Why is this relationship so hard? It is so invigorating to know that we don’t have to stay stuck…even if we’re not the one struggling with narcissism…we can change the way we relate to the people who do.

Find out if the stress in your relationships with family, friends, or at work is unknowingly caused from narcissism in yourself or others… Narcissism is actually much more common than we may think and, in reality, most of us have some of these characteristics.

You Might Be a Narcissist If… was written by two psychotherapists and a psychiatrist with decades of both personal and professional experience with narcissism. It is filled with many interesting-to-read stories taken from the authors’ or their clients’ lives that clearly demonstrate examples of narcissism. Explains better than others…5
I have read several books and articles about narcissism in which the disorder is spoken of with disdain and an “aren’t those people horrible and they sure victimize us” attitude, and I can surely understand that. This book clearly explains the two major childhood scenarios that create narcissists, which the authors use to help us understand that narcissists really are unaware of the sources of their own behavior and it’s not really personal against us. This helps us to not see ourselves as “victims” and helps to relieve some of the pain resulting from their actions. The authors are not excusing the narcissists’ behaviors, but are helping us to realize that they were conditioned that way and they are actually in a way suffering more than their “victims” because they are missing out on a lot of human warmth and acceptance. Most of the time they will never find their way out of that personal prison.
The book goes on to give very helpful coping strategies. This is a concise, thin book without any “filler”.

Must Read5
This was one of the most informative books I’ve read in the last year. The authors discuss not only true NPD but also the effects of narcissistic traits. They give self-help tips on working with narcissists and recovering from narcissistic abuse. I was extremely impressed by how human their analysis was. They point out that many people who suffer from these symptoms do so because they lack the emotional security to develop deep connections with others. There isn’t a whole lot of research included, but it is a very quick and helpful read.

Great, insightful book5
This book is a quick, entertaining and helpful read about narcissism and its traits. Not only do the authors describe the affliction in layman’s language, they also use case histories to illustrate how it can affect marriages and relationships. Easy to read, informative, and helpful — even if you don’t have narcissism, it opens your eyes on how improve your relationships.
