We run two humidifiers all year round here–it’s dry in the desert–and these filters are MUCH better than the reg ones. It’s worth a little more to get these. That blue stuff on the outside helps them last longer and filter the air better.

I don’t even know why they still make the non-airwashing filters. These Honeywell HAC-504 Replacement Filter for Honeywell Humidifiers really do take a lot of the dust out the air, but more importantly these filters holdup a lot longer than the HONEYWELL/ENVIRACAIRE HAC-504 Replacement Filter Pad ones do, and they really aren’t that much more expensive. These filters are mislisted though, their real part number is HAC-504AW, the “AW” is for “Air Washing”, because for the blue layer of filter material.

The Filter is Great. Better to get filter replacements, not new humidifiers all the time5
It drives me crazy that stores sell humidifiers but usually not filter replacements. Do they think we’re going to buy a new humidifier every time we need a new filter? I like being able to buy whatever filter I need at Amazon.

These filters are heavier duty than ones I previously used in other humdifiers. This is my second winter using the current humidifiers. I bought 4 of the same model all at once just so that I would only have to get one type of filter. This turned out to be a good idea and my home has decent humidity in winter.

In this purchase, I got ten filters and they arrived all at once, each in its own box. Since these are great filters, I think they are worth the price.

The main thing is if you have a humidifier requiring filters to get a good supply and be able to change them as needed. I think these filters would cost more in a store since the stores want to sell a new humidifier rather than keep you supplied with filter for the humdifiers that they have sold in the past couple of years.

Remember to keep the blue side facing out! (I made that mistake once.)

i bought this for our big german shepherd, who needed more exercise than we could give him without a set of wheels.

it installs easily on my mountain bike, and the detachable rod makes getting him ready to go really easy (and safe. i don’t have to worry about attaching him to the bike until we’re ready to shove off.)

the remarkable thing about this device is despite his efforts, he just can’t pull me down (if i’m moving at a good speed.) we jog him daily with this, and my biggest fear was that he’d get distracted and tug at the bike and send me crashing. but this design is so great, because it pretty much eliminates that possibility (try as he might.) i say it’s great for big dogs because it’s just the right size to be very safe for a large dog: it keeps him by my side where i can see him and correct him (unlike other models which have the dog behind the bike. yikes!) it leaves the handle bars (and my hands) free, which is leads safer than trying to hold a leash and steer at the same time. the rod is far enough out that he’s well clear of the wheels and peddles. i can see how it would be a lot less effective for a smaller dog, but for a big dog it’s perfect.

but there is one terrible flaw with this product (or perhaps i should say with BIKES.) while he can not pull me down, he CAN rotate the bike seat if he pulls too hard. i batten down my seat post and the jogger clamp as hard as i dare before riding, but he can still rotate the seat. it really doesn’t take much effort, it’s pure physics. if bike seats came keyed, or if this product was designed to not attach to a round point, it wouldn’t be an issue. but if your dog isn’t a puller, than you really have nothing to worry about. and again, the faster you go, the better it works!

regardless of the seat woes, i love this product. we’re thinking about getting another clamp to put on my fella’s bike so he can jog our dog too!

I was a bit hesitant to purchase this product because of all the things I was reading online about this being a cheap ripoff of the Walkydog. I bought it anyway because the price was very reasonable; I’m very glad I did. First of all, all the materials used seem to be of high quality and strength.
I have taken my German shorthair biking with a leash strapped to the handle bar before and that doesn’t work too well. It was ok as long as I was going straight, no stopping no 90 degree turns. Having done that, I knew exactly what sort of “tests” I would run to see if the K-9 jogger would solve those issues. I went straight, fast-slow, stopped, made 360 tunrs both ways; everything I could image. It performed great, the dog was able to tell when I was turning or stopping without any instructions or practice. Just for this I give it 5 Stars. As a couple of other people mentioned, the device can move if your dog is very strong, and I did find myself bumping the bar at times while pedaling. Once we got going, I adjusted and everything was fine. If you have a high energy dog that needs vigorous exercise, you won’t care about the small drawbacks. I highly recommend this product.

we liked our first one so much that this is our second for our second bike. our dog is 70lbs of unlimited energy coonhound and I could never exercise him this well by foot. the distance seems apropriate and the quick release works well. be sure your seat post is tight and all is good. your bodyweight is centered over the attachment point while riding, so your dog can’t easily pull you off course. when standing next to the bike (perhaps at a stoplight), be ready if your dog is a puller.

I bought this Lightweight Carpet Cleaner with the hope of cleaning room by room of my home over time so that I wouldn’t have to pay Professional Carpet Cleaners to come in once a year to clean my carpets. We recently added an “indoor” puppy to our family too, so our carpets were really taking a beating. Both my husband and I are thoroughly impressed with the Bissell 2080. We knew buying a Bissell was a good decision, but we were a little skeptical that we might should have bought a more heavy duty cleaner, but every penny counts in our household. Using the 2080 to clean a room at a time per weekend is working GREAT! We did find that the sprayer didn’t meet our needs (puppy spots) – but we took the Bissell cleaning fluid, put it in a spray bottle, then sprayed everything! By the time we were finished spraying, we were ready to use the Powerbrush to run over the stains, scrub the solution and vacuum it up! The carpet looks like new — which is an accomplishment because we’re a family of 5 and that doesn’t include our 2 mature dogs and our puppy! I would definitely recommend this cleaner to anyone that needs to watch their budget but also wants a really good cleaning job!
Oh, one last thing, I read this in reviews before I purchased the 2080 and it is SO true — when you are vacuuming the cleaner out of the rug, GO SLOW!! If you go slow, you’ll vacuum up the maximum amount of liquid and your carpet will dry super quick! Good luck!

Light weight and not especially powerful..4
but,for the price, it rated 4 stars for me. So far, no leaking issues and the brush bar does rotate, as long as the front piece that holds the sucked up dirty liquid is replaced properly. If it is not, it leaks like a sieve and there is next to no suction. Regarding the time it takes for the carpet to dry, it really is not bad, if you just move slowly and give the machine a chance to suck up the liquid. If you move fast, much is left behind and it takes extra long to dry. Expect dissapointment if you want to get your whole house done in a day. The brush head is small and the machine is not very powerful, so for the cleaning to be effective you will need to take your time and make sure you get everything up. This machine is best for those without big stain problems and is best suited for those that clean their carpets with some regularity. If your carpet is trashed and really dirty, you need something bigger and more powerful (or professionals).

Quick Usage for Light Maintenance vs. Other Options3
Very easy to use carpet cleaner for regular light maintenance. However, I was looking for a carpet cleaner to get out some traffic and light stain spots – some deep cleaning with a powerbrush – and this didn’t do the trick.
The “powerbrush” on this is a misnomer, as the brush rolls back + forth by…..you! no motor on it. not enough bristles on it to call it a brush. also misleading is “steamer” and “deep cleaner”.
The definite positives were that it’s extremely easy and even fun to use, seems very well-designed, and it’s terrific for light maintenance. 5 stars for all of that. Wish Bissell had advertised it as that so I wouldn’t be stuck having to return it.

Other, better options, which bring my rating from 3 down to 1 or 2:
I bought from amazon the McCulloch Steam Cleaner (mc1275, $100) and it ROCKS. zapped spots out with steam. obviously also great for hard floors and furniture, bathrooms, etc. carpets dried within 2 hours – this from a steamer without any suction.
Also sold here is the Hoover SteamVac JR which seems to have great suction.

Redesigned from previous models, works very poorly1
I’ve used a couple of generations of the Foodsaver and have found them easy to use, efficient and cost effective. We bought this one yesterday from a local retail store and it is going back today. It’s a classic case of a company “improving” a product that worked perfectly well and really making a mess of the new design. I can’t believe that anybody at the company actually used this thing and thought it was an improvement.

The biggest problem is the automatic bag sensor. The machine won’t run (seal or vacuum) unless the automatic bag sensor tells the machine there is a bag in place. This “switch” is placed inside the machine, so to make your own bag, you have to push the bag in the seal slot about 1 1/2 inches. Of course this creates at least 1 inch of waste on each end of every bag. The other problem with this is that you have “push” a plastic bag into a narrow slot. Often the bag sensor does not pick up on the bag and you have to push and push to get the thing to turn on. Pushing a flexible bag is very frustrating and after about 1/2 hour of fighting with trying to get it to seal the first open end of the bag, I was ready to take an axe to the thing. It’s just a very poor design.

The older style, clamshell design was much better. You opened the machine, positioned the bag end right where it needed to be, shut the machine and it kicked right on. It was easy and obvious and worked every time.

Skip this one, look for the simpler one (Food Saver V2840 for example), it’s less expensive and works better.

Great sealer, but you must follow instructions, as it is easy to use4
Some reviewers have complained that you have to fit bags into the slot and occasionally the sensor will not detect a bag is there. HOWEVER, according to the directions, you can’t just stick the bag in. You put the left part of the bag into the right part of the slot and slide the bag over. When you do this, the bag goes in very effortlessly. I bought this at a warehouse store, so if anything ever does go wrong, they will refund my purchase. It is louder than the previous units, and I am concerned about the motor having to come down in order for the sealer to work. But the bags themselves do fit into the slots easily as long as you do it the right way. If you buy at a warehouse store, you shouldn’t be worried about anything failing. They have the best satisfaction guarantee policy because of the yearly membership fees you pay.

Overall, this is an excellent unit for someone who loves to just stick a bag in and have the machine do the rest. The previous units are great too (I also have the 2440). Both create bag waste. The 2440 you have to put the bag into the vaccuum slot which creates a good inch or so of waste. In this model, maybe an inch, inch and a half is wasted at the most. It’s barely anything, really….nothing anymore more so than the 2440. You’re saving money not having to throw food away. Get bags on Amazon.com where their prices are usually very competitive. And try to reuse bags that haven’t had fish or meat in them so you save on bags too and help decrease landfill waste at the same time too.

Great idea, poorly executed2
We have used several of the FoodSaver products in the past, and this looked like a good idea. It’s pretty, takes little counter space, easy to use …

WRONG!! First, you MUST waste at least 3+ inches of bag space per use. It will not even start cycling until the bag is 1 1/2″ past the sealing head (undoubtedly to make you buy more outrageously priced bag rolls). Unless you hold your mouth right, and the stars are properly aligned it may:

1) Try and fail to vacuum, but will try to seal anyway
2) Refuse to vacuum or seal (especially if you try to retract the back 1/8″)
3) Do a partial vacuum and try to seal

When you seal the first end of the bag, if you retract the bag at all it the head will come down, then retract without sealing (you MUST waste the entire 1 1/2″ of bag).

I finally gave up and started using my earlier version where you can SEE where the bag end must be to vacuum, and the sealing head is much closer to the vacuum end.

Again, this was a beautifully conceived and very poorly executed appliance.

Amazing Product5
My four-year-old son has recently moved into a full-sized adult, pillow-top bed. He has, unfortunately, inherited his mother’s bedwetting and still wets the bed on a frequent basis. While we do take preventative measures, there’s always the chance that leaks can happen (which they do… frequently). This wasn’t a problem with his toddler bed mattress with its waterproof coating, but it would be with this bed. I didn’t want to destroy a good-quality mattress early on, so covering it with a waterproof mattress pad was the only way to go. I was unimpressed by the selection at our local Bed, Bath and Beyond, so I decided to come online. After reading the great reviews for this mattress pad, I purchased two full-sized versions from First Class Mattress.

What I loved about them:

*Quality construction. I prewashed both pads according to their instructions and have washed both pads frequently since our purchase. Neither shrunk and there has been no fraying or other damage to report (as opposed to some other mattress pads I’ve purchased that fell apart after five or six washes). These truly are quality. The terry on the top softens after each wash and has a really nice feel to it.

*The fit. The fit, even on a large pillow-top mattress, is exceptional. It could even fit a thicker mattress with no problems.

*No noise. That was the biggest issue I had — would the waterproof barrier make a ton of noise when my son moves around… and it doesn’t… you can’t even tell you have a mattress protector on the bed (I often lay on it when reading to him and have accidentally fallen asleep on it a few times).

*It breathes. My son will sweat when he sleeps. It was a major problem with the mattress protectors we’ve had in the past — the plastic they use to make it waterproof just doesn’t breathe enough. It doesn’t help we live in Florida. This mattress pad breathes — he hasn’t woken up soaked in sweat since we purchased it!

*It works. This was the biggest thing. The mattress pad could be the quietest, most breathable, pad out there but if it doesn’t work, it’s not worth it. Both pads have protected the mattress no matter how long the leak sat there. Each time an accident happens, I check the bed for wetness and there is nothing… and sometimes there is a LOT of liquid on the top of the cover.

There is not a single thing to dislike about this product, or the company you purchase it from. First Class sent it quickly, shipping is free and the price is amazing. After looking through Bed, Bath and Beyond, I know that (even with their coupon) this is less expensive than 75% of the full-sized protectors in there and it’s MUCH better quality. This isn’t just a case of getting what you pay for, it’s a case of getting way MORE than you pay for. If you’re looking for a quality mattress protector, look no further than Luna!

I bought the queen-size and it fits our double-sided pillow top mattress great. The workmanship is excellent and it provides protection without inhibiting the breathability. Very comfortable and I don’t notice any difference in sound or feel before or after putting it on. Great value compared to other comparable products on the market. Delivery time was super. Terrific Performer and Outstanding Value5
Approximately three years ago, my $200 Eureka vac finally stopped working and I purchased the featherlite to replace it. At that time I lived in a 1,400 sf apartment. Now I live in a 2,500 sft home.

For the past three years, this vacuum has served our family well. Pros:

1. Inexpensive. $40 or less in most places.
2. It picks up dirt, fuzz (and legos) as well or better than any other vacuum I’ve ever used. Really. Just change the bag when it gets full.
3. Light weight. It’s very easy to manuver and my younger kids can use it.
4. Simplicity. This is a basic vac. It’s easy to change the bag, wind the cord, and pull hair/crud out of the roller if necessary.
5. It’s got a bag. This is a personal preference, but every bagless upright I’ve ever used creates a small dust storm when you empty it. The bag system on this one works well.

Cons:
1. I don’t expect it to go past 5 years. It’s clearly designed for low cost and light weight. However, so far so good.
2. It’s pretty loud. Not the loudest I’ve used but it’s not quiet.
3. The hose for attachments is cumbersome to use. My recommendation? Use a small canister vac and/or shop vac instead. Most uprights have on-board tools that don’t work well.
4. I have several children, and one in particular that sheds a lot of long hair. All vac will get hair caught in the beater-bar underneath, but this one also seems to get hair caught in the bushings that support the bar. When this happens, the hair builds up in that area creating friction and eventually smelly hair smell. Not a huge problem but slightly annoying.

I intend to buy another one of these when mine gives out. If I have to spend $40 every 4-6 years to own a lightweight, easy to use, vacuum that cleans extremely well then I’m quite ok with that! I see no reason to blow $200-$400 on a large heavy vacuum that MIGHT last a little longer.

Can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch5
I have a rainbow canister that I have decided to retire do the intensive assembly required for its operation. You have to fill the tank with water then place it it’s caddy, place the motor on top of tank and then attach the hose from the power head to the motor. Then do the reverse to empty the water from the tank. So I decided to get an upright that you can just plug in and go.

I’m not sold yet on the bag less uprights so I decided to go with the old tried and true one’s with a bag. I first looked at the Eureka Upright Vacuum Cleaner 1934A, had an impressive review but no attachments and only a 5 amp motor and a little more than I wanted to spend.

Next I reviewed this Dirt Devil model, but with some trepidation, as I have always had this impression of substandard construction and performance.

I was surprised by all the positive reviews, it had the attachments I wanted as I have these dust bunnies from hell made up of dog hair in places the main motor can’t reach; it has a powerful 12 amp motor compared to the 5 amp for the Eureka; so I decided to purchase the dirt devil and hold my breath.

When it arrived I found the instructions simple ( but the pictures in the instructions were to small) but had the impression I was assembling a kids toy at Christmas time. It required only 5 screws for it’s assembly. The handle was made out of lightweight hollow plastic and the attachments had a cheap quality to them, but I was resigned to be objective and hold off any judgment until I actually had a chance to use it.

Once started, the motor had a roar just slightly less than that of a Boeing 747 at take off
. It glided over my high-low carpet with ease and even handled this weaved runner in front of my sink area with ease, my Rainbow did not handle that runner very well. It would bounce and jerk and even pulled some of the weaving out; also my Rainbow would, on occasion, spit out these hairballs made of dog hair and carpet fuzz. The Dirt Devil hasn’t so far.

In some reviews there has been some complaint of the effort necessary to extract the hose from the motor to use the attachments; this I to noticed. You have to twist and pull it from it’s mounting in at the motor. I sprayed so dry silicone lubricant on the exterior of the neck (see my cust pic) and that seem to improve the effort necessary to remove it. Once you do have the attachments I was impressed of the suction it had. This puppy can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. Another reviewer wrote ” it looks cheap and screams cheap” I to agree but for 40 bux I was impressed with its performance overall, that is, if you can ignore it’s light weight construction. I my opinion, the promotion of it being light weight is more of a Madison ave. attempt to rationalize it’s construction.

If this Dirt Devil holds up for a few years, I’ll consider it money well spent. Below are some stats I got off another website that may help with your decision on wither to purchase this model.

I know I have been critical of some features of this vacuum, but it you consider the cost divided by its over all features. Its money well spent

works fine after a year4
I was suprised to see that some of the other reviews portray this vacuum as useless. I bought mine from Target a year ago and it works wonderfully. Only complaints is that it’s still pretty ‘clunky’ to carry around and that when you want to use the attachments it’s hard to get the hose out. I’ve gone through a Shark brand vacuum that broke after 2 uses and an Orek XL that ate it’s own cord but couldn’t pick up Cheerios that my daughter spilled. I’ve had bad luck with vacuums but this one is doing just fine after 200+ uses.

Attractive solidly built toaster!4
I bought this toaster to replace my 14 year old Procter Silex toaster, which still works great, but had some issues that were starting to annoy me. I looked at this and a Cuisinart model, but decided to go with the Black and Decker because it looked more attractive. I must say that I am not dissapointed thus far. I love the bagel, defrost and reheat settings! My old toaster had wide slots, but the ones on the Black and Decker are larger, so they will do better with toasting bagels. Another thing I love about this toaster is that when you choose the “bagel” setting it only browns one side of the bagel. How cool is that?! The other cool feature of this toaster is the lift up feature. My old toaster required me to break out the untensils to get the bagels out, so this is really a plus. The only reason why I am giving this toaster a 4 and not a 5 is because it doesn’t appear to have the cool touch feature. The sides of the toaster get pretty hot. Other then that this toaster is well worth the $$$.

By the way, the product description indicates that this is a 1400 watt toaster. That is incorrect. It is 850 watts. So, those that maintain this site might want to update the description. My old toaster was 900 watts and this outperforms it by a mile.

Impulse buy (my old toaster still worked, just didn’t look cool)
I like this toaster’s retro deco look. Nice wide slots, the cancel button so you can rescue toast that is about to burn without having to force the handle up. It does get hot on the outside (my other toaster was cool to the touch on the outside), but I don’t have small children who could get burnt anymore (and I simply avoid touching the thing myself).

Note: before toasting anything in this one, turn it up to a high setting and push down the leaver to burn off the “manufacturing” smell or you’ll get toast that tastes like burnt plastic.

A great bargain for a great price5
After reading other reviews, I decided to purchase this toaster and I have not been disappointed. Something similar would cost twice as much at a regular department store. I love the stainless steel look and the buttons that let me choose what I am toasting.
