Sony SAWX700 250 Watt Active Subwoofer Little NUKE! – Mark Schuster – Princeton, Wisconsin
I purchased this sub for our TV/Stereo in our great room. Awesome. We have a horse barn some thousand feet away. My wife came in one night while I was watching some movie and I didn’t think I had it that loud but she said it was shaking the steel in our pole building!
I am also a musician who plays multiple instruments. Guitar, Keyboard, Bass and electric drums, (Roland/Hart dynamic TDW 20. Anyway I was asked to play bass at our church. Not a huge room but it holds 300 people and the ridge of the cathedral is 2 feet high. All the walls and ceiling are wood. I had my bass rig set up somewhere else so I decided to take my M-Audio BX8a powered speakers, my Line 6 pod x3 and this sub. Again I tried not to play too loud but this efficient unit rumbled the seat. Playing a bass through it is much different than say a line out type bass sound. For one the recorded sound is mixed and set so it is harder to distort. Well there was no distortion. Latter we moved everything outside where bass usually gets lost. We had the second service next to the lake and the folks at the park nearby said they heard the bass loud and clear. I am very pleased with this little nuclear bomb!
a solid 3.5 – Benjamin D. Priest – Lincoln, ME
I have 2 of these linked together. Pros: it does go down to 20Hz; i tried it with a test cd. it’s weak, but it hits it. For the Acoustic Suspension junkies, this is it all the way. No boom to it at all, just low bass you feel. Also, a good bargain for the price. Cons: not enough power. with 2 of these, i should have cracked walls. Maybe i’m hard to please. Subwoofer placement has EVERYTHING to do with these. If you dont have the right room acoustically, then you might as well put a coushion on top of the sub, and use it as your chair. Because it’s not ported, i would recommend using the sub with tower speakers. (hint: Infinity Beta 50’s). Overall, for the price, it is a good sounding sub.
