Power Shot D10
This camera is replacing a Canon power shot S230. I was excited to see all the features I needed in one unit. Water proof, shock proof and 10 + MP. This camera will mostly be used while boating and snow boarding.
I have used this camera on the boat several times now. It has been knocked around quite a bit with no problems. I highly recommend the LCD screen protector. The 3X optical zoom is great. The quality of the pictures it produces are awesome. Start up time is quick. Time between photos seems fast compared to my older camera.
The camera has a couple of draw backs. It is very bulky. Does not fit in your pocket. There is no lens cover. It does not float at all.
All around I give this camera 4 stars. It has everything you could want in one package. This is a great weekend warrior camera.

Do not buy this product. It does not do what it advertises. I purchased it for my wife for Christmas.
The recipe feature only has a few recipes from Bon Appetit, not the entire collection as I was led to believe.
It is a touch Frame, not a Touchscreen. The touch frame worked for about 2 weeks.
The remote control barely worked when new, now it is non working.
The mount is poorly made. It seems sturdy, but it’s adjustments to create friction to hold the screen in place simply don’t work, no matter how hard you tighten them. The mounting screws are total junk, the heads strip right off of them. I have to lean my set against my backsplash, or it pivots forward on the mount.
The picture quality is terrible, and the set does not have enough volume to hear it if anything else is going on in the room, even at max level.
Worst of all, I emailed the company to complain, and they don’t even return the emails.
A definite mistake to buy. I can’t believe they’re actually advertising this product as being so great. IT IS JUNK!
cool once you configure it
My in laws got one and had NO idea how to use it. They used as a TV only until I came over. lol
Adding recipes isnt very tech friendly. You must type your recipes in mspaint or another photo editing program and save them as jpgs. you can then add them to the bon-apetite folder on the actual unit by hooking up usb cable to laptop\desktop. your computer will see a bunch of removable drives. You then find the recipe folders. transfer the jpgs to the bonapetite folder, then you can move them to their correct folder as favorites (soups, entrees, etc). You have to name them in the correct way too. they start from 001 to 100. When you add the jpg you must name it in the right # sequence. This is the only way i could get it to work. You can also do screenshots of [...]or other cooking websites, save as jpeg and then transfer them.
You will also need external speakers because the sound sucks.
The wireless is just to stream picasa pictures.. thats it. You have to install a yahoo widget to access the ubnit to transfer pics directly to it. Better off to do everything via usb.
The manual was garbage. I am a very experienced techie and it took me a couple hours to setup all the features.
very cool idea, but i dont think they got it right the first time. Ill probably still buy one… but the average computer user wont be able to use all the features without help imo

Surprisingly good lens for just over a $100
I own both Canon gear (Canon 40D) and Nikon gear (D40). Since Nikon is my cheaper lighter gear, I am not to invest a lot of $$$ into it. While D40 is light and cheap, it is an excellent camera which I use all the time for many reasons. I needed a tele lens to compliment my kit 18-55 lens (which is excellent in itself and gets great reviews). I was between Tamron 70-300 and Sigma 70-300 APO since Nikon’s 70-300 is 4 times more expensive than Tamron and Sigma. After reading tons of reviews and playing with both Tamron and Sigma, I chose Tamron and I am very happy I did. There are several versions of Tamron’s 70-300, however this one is the latest, 2008 version, which autofocuses on D40, 40X and 60. This lens is remarkable for the amount it is sold for. I’ve taken many great photos with it on vacation and around town. It is also very compact and light. While it is not an ideal lens to shoot Birds in Flight (neither is D40 with its 2.5 fps) due to its slow autofocusing mechanism, it is great for general photos and portraits. As you can see from samples I even took some bee shots with it. I took a star because of slow autofocusing, but hey, you are paying $130 for it, realize it. I recommend this lens over Sigma for budget shooters who want 300 tele, but don’t want to pay $450 Nikon wants for its version. I am happy with it
Buy if price is a big concern
I bought this lens because of the price and though it is a fair lens, you get what you pay for. The lens is relatively show and sometimes takes a while to lock onto the subject. It has good range though, being a 70-300 lens. Also, because of a lack of image stability, I’d advise shooting on continuous or simply taking multiple snaps of the subject, especially at the higher focal lengths. How useful the macro feature is debatable seeing as how you must be three feet from the subject and the Nikkor 70-300 I tries out seems to focus from close to that same distance without having macro.
All in all, I’d recommend it solely for someone who just need a basic 70-300 lens and doesn’t have much money to spend. Just know that because of the softness of the photos that you may have to tinker with your camera’s sharpness settings or just sharpen in Photoshop. That being said, I have some really nice shots I did with the lens still.
Got this for D40x , too much CA
I waited a whole week with anticipation for this lens. Now after trying for 2 days I’m very disappointed.
I have a Sigma 70-300 for my D70 (which works great) but can’t work with my D40x so I ordered the Tamron because I heard it was pretty good. It shoots far and is about the same softness as the Sigma and would be a great lens but the CA (color fringing) is terrible. I live near the ocean and take lots of photos of ocean activities, surfing, canoe races etc. Purple color fringing was a big problem. Had to use photoshop to remove it, too much work.
I have owned Tamron lenses in the past with film SLRs and they were wonderful, but not this one.
Would I recommend this to anyone? Only if they can’t or don’t want to spend the money for the Nikon 70-300mm. I wish that I would have gotten the Nikon or Sigma with HSM. Which I am now looking into.
So if you want just a basic 70-300mm lens then this will probably work for you.

Lexas makes a better SD disk
Lexas has always been a standard for professional digital photographers. Having bought other “Cheaper” SD memory chips, I have learned first hand how slow a digital camera’s response when taking Hi Res photos using standard or less expensive chips. I have been impressed and prefer this particular SD chip in comparison to Extreme II or standard ScanDisk SD chips. The 133x in this Lexar chip really does help to shorten the transfer time from camera to memory storage. One or two shots may not be noticable but when shooting several shots in a fast sequence, you will clearly notice a clear advantage of this product.
Top Notch storage for Digital SLR
For those that take photos using a digital camera, invest the few extra dollars in a proffessional card like this one. Using my Nikon D80 I immediately noticed the improved speed of performance in capturing the high resolution pictures I was taking. For the 20,000+ pictures I taken this year, this card has been rock solid for over 9 months so far.
Poor Quality But Good Technical Support
I bought a new Nikon D90 and the Lexar Pro 8GB SDHC card to go with it. The card worked great for 2 months until the plastic broke up around the contacts. I contacted Lexar tech support and, after a few e-mails and some photos of the damage, they agreed to replace it. I shipped in the broken card and received the replacement within a week or two.
The replacement, however, didn’t work in my camera. After a few conversations with Nikon and Lexar, I learned the 8GB card is not listed on the Nikon compatibility list for my camera. The 4GB was listed but, not the 8GB. Lexar offered some formatting suggestions to try to get the card to work with my camera. Unfortunately nothing worked.
Oh well. I can use the Lexar card in my Fuji Finepix camera and I’ll go out and buy a new card off the Nikon D90 compatibility list.

By the way, the only difference I can tell between the first broken 8GB card and the second 8GB replacement card is that the first was made in China and the second in Taiwan. The second card seems noticeably more rigid and sturdy. Unfortunately, you can’t tell the which location the card was built in until you open the package and look at the back of the card.
